Origen vs Fnatic – LEC Playoffs 2019 (Round 3 Predictions)

Published on: 10/04/2019

The LEC playoffs 2019 continue on April 13! We’re in for a nail-biting Origen vs Fnatic series, as both teams are dying to face G2 in the finals. Of course, it can be difficult to tell the underdogs from the favorites in such a competitive matchup, so our League of Legends experts cooked up some LEC playoffs 2019 predictions to help you make sense of the series!

Origen suffered a crushing defeat in their match against G2 Esports. Their first game didn’t look too bad, although they did make a lot of questionable macro calls in the process. Yet, they completely crumbled towards the end of the series, which leaves us worried for their adaptability and mental fortitude in a Bo5 setting.

It might seem like Fnatic should be the clear favorites here since they have the momentum from their victory against Splyce. But if you look past the results, Fnatic’s form also leaves a lot to be desired. Their carries are strong and their teamfighting is on point, but they’re prone to overextending and making bone-headed mistakes in the heat of the moment.

Origen vs Fnatic Match Breakdown

Top Lane Matchup

The Origen vs Fnatic top lane will be an all-out brawl. With a 3.4 KDA and 8.0 CS per minute, Alphari has a solid claim to being the best player on Origen’s roster. His laning is dominant, and he has no issues exerting pressure on early game picks and standing up for himself in losing matchups. But his main strength is teamfighting. Alphari creates a ton of space for his teammates while simultaneously suppressing enemy carries, and such a strong teamfighting presence will definitely come in handy in this LEC playoffs 2019 series.

Bwipo is much more volatile in comparison. Sporting a 2.9 KDA and 7.6 CS per minute, Fnatic’s top laner is a fighter first and foremost. No matter the champion or the state of the game, Bwipo’s always looking to contest creeps and push his enemies under their turret. However, he doesn’t get the resources to justify such a brash playstyle, so it’s common to see Bwipo overextend and donate free kills to the enemy jungler.

VERDICT: OG Alphari takes over the top lane.

Jungle Matchup

Things will be heated in the jungle. Sporting a 3.6 KDA and 5.3 CS per minute, OG Kold is a battle-hardened veteran that knows exactly when (and where) he needs to be to set up his teammates for success. His pathing isn’t the only thing Kold brings to the table, and you can count on him to initiate fights and find clutch ganking opportunities.

Broxah shares a similar approach to the game. With a 5.3 KDA and 5.0 CS per minute, Fnatic’s jungler might not be as refined in terms of game sense, but he makes up for it with mechanical talent. On top of that, Broxah has exceptional synergy with his laners, so we’d have to give him an edge in early duels and river skirmishes.

VERDICT: FNC Broxah secures a slight lead in the jungle.

Mid Lane Matchup

Up until a week ago, we’d say there’s only one way the Origen vs Fnatic mid lane can go. With a 4.1 KDA and 9.1 CS per minute, OG Nukeduck is the longest standing mid laner in the region. His game knowledge is immense, and his vast champion pool puts opponents at constant risk of playing uncomfortable matchups. However, Nukeduck struggled to showcase these strengths in his LEC playoffs 2019 series against G2 Esports, so it’s hard to tell whether he can perform under pressure.

Fortunately for him, Fnatic don’t have a superstar mid laner either. With a 5.4 KDA and 8.9 CS per minute, Nemesis is an up-and-coming mid laner that made a name for himself by holding his own in the lane and showing up in teamfights and skirmishes. And while he’s quite consistent for a rookie, even a slumping Nukeduck should be able to outmaneuver him in the mid lane.

VERDICT: OG Nukeduck runs away with the mid lane matchup.

Bot Lane Matchup

A different story takes place in the Origen vs Fnatic bot lane. Holding a 6.2 KDA and 9.9 CS per minute, Patrik established himself as a solid teamfighter during the regular season, however, his sluggish laning was fully exposed in the series against G2 Esports. The same applies to Mithy (3.2 KDA), who has a habit of committing positioning mistakes and decision-making blunders in the early game.

Fnatic LEC Match

Fnatic won’t let these flaws go unpunished. With a 4.5 KDA and 10.5 CS per minute, Rekkles is the driving force behind Fnatic’s momentum, and his razor-sharp mechanics will be sure to put his opponents on the back foot. Combine that with an explosive playmaker in Hylissang (3.1 KDA), and we have a hard time seeing how Origen can get through this matchup unscathed.

VERDICT: FNC Rekkles and Hylissang win the bot lane standoff.

Origen vs Fnatic LEC Playoffs 2019 Prediction

Origen have some win conditions, but these don’t even begin to make up for the bot lane discrepancy. To make matters worse, they don’t have the confidence or the killer instinct of their current opponents, so they will have a hard time keeping up with Fnatic in the late game. Our prediction is a 3-1 victory for Fnatic!

You can bet on Fnatic winning the Origen vs Fnatic series with a 3-1 score for odds of 2.95 at Betway.
