G2 are their polar opposites. This roster is stacked with individual firepower, and every single player here has the mechanics and game sense to solo carry a game. Moreover, G2 are one of the best teams when it comes to taking small leads and snowballing them into crushing advantages, making most of their wins look like blowouts. The only bad thing you can say about G2 is that they have a hard time managing their aggression, so they can overextend and get involved in losing teamfights.
Origen vs G2 Match Breakdown
Top Lane Matchup
Our Origen vs G2 breakdown begins in the top lane. With a 3.4 KDA and 8.0 CS per minute, OG Alphari had a rough start to his 2019 Spring Split, but he regained his footing towards the second half of the season. The best thing about him is versatility. His tanks are solid, his carries are on point, and his splitpushers are a force to be reckoned with. Add in his veteran game sense, and it’s hard to find a more reliable top laner than Alphari.
Yet, even Alphari is going to struggle against a player of Wunder’s caliber. Holding a 4.1 KDA and 8.7 CS per minute, G2’s top laner thrives on aggression. He seeks to dominate his opponents from the first minutes of the laning phase, and he always finds a way to take over the game through the side lanes. Last but not least, Wunder has the sharpest mechanics of any top laner in the region, and Alphari will be hard-pressed to match him.
VERDICT: G2 Wunder dominates the top lane matchup.
Jungle Matchup
The jungle matchup is going to be fierce. Sporting a 3.6 KDA and 5.3 CS per minute, OG Kold is one of the most cerebral players in Europe. He has an excellent grasp of pathing, and he’s one of the few junglers that can set up all three lanes for success in the early game. Combine that with his ability to pull the trigger on clutch mechanical outplays, and Kold has a solid claim to being the best jungler in Europe.
Up until a few weeks ago, Jankos was a worthy rival for him. Sporting a 4.7 KDA and 5.4 CS per minute, he’s an aggressive jungler that takes pride in his ability to find early invades and set up daring invades. However, his recent performances leaves a lot to be desired, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Jankos got completely outmaneuvered by Kold in this LEC playoffs 2019 series.
VERDICT: FNC Broxah takes over the jungle matchup.
Mid Lane Matchup
The Origen vs G2 mid lane will be wild! With a 4.1 KDA and 9.1 CS per minute, G2 Nukeduck is a perfect example of a rock-solid mid laner. His champion pool is as vast as an ocean and his game knowledge is so extensive that he routinely outmaneuvers his foes in the laning phase. He’s also one of the best players when it comes to navigating 5v5 teamfights, which makes him a massive pressure point for Origen.
Caps is the unstoppable force to Nukeduck’s immovable object. Sporting a 4.0 KDA and 8.5 CS per minute, G2’s mid laner is a wild playmaker that turns every game he enters into a highlight reel. His laning is even more oppressive than that of his opponent’s, and while Nukeduck got the better of him when these mid laners met last, Caps will be sure to pay him back in spades.
VERDICT: G2 Caps takes over the mid lane.
Bot Lane Matchup
The bot lane will likely be decided by things outside of the game. With a 6.2 KDA and 9.9 CS per minute, Patrik is a great cleanup ADC that moonlights as a lane bully whenever he gets the right champions. As for Mithy (3.2 KDA), he does an excellent job of protecting his marksman on a wide range of tank supports while occasionally switching it up with picks like Thresh and Rakan.
G2 also have a strong bot lane on their side. Sporting a 5.4 KDA and 9.9 CS per minute, Perkz had a great time transitioning from the mid lane to the ADC role, and while his positioning may be shaky at times, he makes up for it by constantly pressuring his opponents in lane and in teamfights. Yet, the main worrying point lies in the support position. It’s no secret that Mikyx (4.1 KDA) suffered a wrist injury in the latter half of the split, and it’s hard to imagine him being his usual dominant self in this series.
VERDICT: OG Patrik and Mithy find an edge in the bot lane.
Origen vs G2 LEC Playoffs 2019 Prediction
This is a battle between power and finesse! Origen have stronger synergy and cleaner macro, but G2 are much better at taking over the game through the solo lanes. And unless Origen find a reliable way to slow this LEC playoffs 2019 match down, we’re predicting a 3-1 victory in G2’s favor.
